The OPC UA Object Model provides a consistent way for representing object-based information models in the AddressSpace. Information models may be defined by standards organizations, vendors or end-users.
A number of "Base Information Models" are specified as part of the OPC UA standard and include Objects that are common in multiple application domains. Definitions exist for alarms, analog and discrete data, historical data and events, and more. Data, alarms and events, and their history can be integrated into a single OPC UA Server. For example, OPC UA Servers are able to represent a temperature transmitter as an Object that is composed of a temperature value, a set of alarm parameters, and a corresponding set of alarm limits.
